About Laura Friedman
Laura discovered yoga while seeking a means to build strength andflexibility, and ease pain in her knees from years of biking and running.Along the way, like many, she found a practice that inspired the mind-body,heart and spirit.Laura believes yoga is for all, no matter one’s level of fitness, age, gender, shape or motivation. At its heart yoga teaches that each time we practice, each moment in life, each breath we take is an opportunity to start fresh, learn, play, restore and explore. Her hope is to inspire others to open tothe possibility of transformation on and off the mat, living with greaterawareness, integrity, compassion and peace. Her classes include slow mindful movement that reduce tension, fatigueand strain in the body along with poses that build strength, balance, flexibility and mobility. Static holds and dynamic sequences are integratedto encourage greater depth of exploration and self-discovery. Modificationsand use of props are offered to allow students of all levels to participatesafely, personalize their practice and experience the joy of yoga.Laura holds a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certification and certificationsspecializing in Restorative Yoga with Judith Lasater, and “yoga4cancer”with Tari Prinster. She apprenticed with Gabriel Halpern in therapeuticclasses based on the Iyengar tradition and completed continuing educationcourses in therapeutic yoga with Doug Keller and Yoga for Osteoporosiswith Loren Fishman. More recently she completed Level 3 SensoryAwareness Training for Yoga Attunement (SATYA) with Tias Little. Herpath to teaching continues to unfold through regular practice and study. She is deeply grateful for the opportunity to share the benefits and wisdomof yoga with others.
