About Erin Brammer

Erin was introduced to the world of yoga in Garberville, CA, back in 1994, where she first studied under beloved teacher Gayna Uransky at Heartwood Institute. Gayna’s teachings, rooted in the Iyengar and Ashtanga traditions, gave Erin an appreciation for the transformative power of yoga. Although she was training to become a massage therapist and shiatsu practitioner, Erin found her true passion in yoga. She loved the feeling of being fully present in her body, and found the practice fun, invigorating, and challenging. Erin’s teaching experience began unexpectedly when Gayna first asked her to subsitute teach her classes in 1995. This led her to establish her own group classes upon returning to her hometown of South Bend, IN, where she rented out a spare room in a health food store. Then, when Erin pursued her degree at Indiana University in Bloomington, she continued to share her love for yoga, teaching classes at the university’s recreational center in 1997-98. Upon graduating from IU, Erin moved to Chicago and found Yogaview in the early 2000s. Little did she know, Yogaview would grow to be her cherished yoga home. In Chicago, Erin has continued to deepen her practice over the years. After suffering a traumatic accident and a grueling months-long recovery in 2022, Erin took a leap of faith to follow her dream of teaching yoga again and completed the Yogaview teacher training in 2023. Erin strives to cultivate a warm and welcoming space where her students can connect deeply with themselves in the spirit of curiosity and compassion. Her classes blend dynamic yoga flows with extended pose holds and drills to build strength, coordination, flexibility and mobility. She also offers an injury-informed approach, guiding students safely through their practice with awareness of common pitfalls. By encouraging presence and offering guidance based on both tradition and modern knowledge, Erin hopes to empower individuals on their journey to physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.
