Mary Scudella

Mary has been a passionate practitioner and teacher of yoga for several years. Originally drawn to yoga as a way to cultivate personal time when her daughter was young, Mary quickly found it to be a sanctuary for physical, emotional, and spiritual clarity. During Mary’s initial teacher training she had the honor of studying anatomy under Tias Little of Prajna Yoga. After gaining experience as a yoga teacher, Mary sought out Tias and Surya Little for guidance at the 500 hour level. She has made several trips to Santa Fe to the Prajna studio to learn the intricacies of the yogic practice. Mary assists Tias at his workshops and trainings as well. Although she is just about finished with the 500 hour certification, she will forever consider herself a student of this timeless and ancient tradition.

Prior to becoming a yoga teacher, Mary was formally trained as a social worker. She worked with children and families to bring emotional balance and harmony to life. Transitioning to the world of yogic practitioner and teacher held such comfort and familiarity as Mary found yoga to be therapeutic, and it just made her feel great! The sense of joy, peace, and even humility that Mary experiences in her own yoga and meditation practice continues to be the foundation upon which she builds her teaching. Over the years Mary’s teaching has become more precise, refined and focused. Whether she is teaching a flow based class or a restorative one, Mary infuses all of her classes with alignment, yogic wisdom, and philosophy. This creates an atmosphere in which the student can grow and experience their own inner being. It is Mary’s highest hope that she can pass along to her students some of the beauty of this practice steeped in tradition and light.
