Yantra Yoga combines ancient movements and postures, breathing techniques, mudras and meditation to rejuvenate and circulate the body’s energy. This energizing practice is rooted in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition and has been practiced by Tibetan yogis for centuries. Gentle Yoga is suited for those desiring or in need of a slower and more gentle approach to the yoga practice. It is appropriate for all levels of
capabilty and experience. [close]
This class focuses on developing a personal practice
using the tradional method of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga.
Students practice independently, at their own pace
guided by the teacher. All levels are welcome. Arrive

All levels are welcome in this class designed especially for musicians
and their specific areas of concern. We will work on opening the
shoulder area, lengthening the spine and strengthening the back and
core muscles, with our focus on alignment and breath, in a playful and
relaxed atmosphere.

Jyl Fehrenkamp began practicing yoga in 2001 as a supplement to her dance studies. Yoga soon became her primary movement practice and she completed the Yogaview Teacher Training & Practice Intensive in 2007. Jyl has also completed prenatal yoga trainings with Dee Davis and Global Yoga, and has enjoyed teaching prenatal yoga classes at Yogaview, Bloom Yoga Studio, the Tiffani Kim Institute and Pulling Down the Moon. Jyl tries to create a warm and relaxed atmosphere in her yoga classes while focusing on breath and length in each pose. Her teaching is greatly influenced by her favorite Yoga instructors, Dee Davis, Quinn Kearney, Claire Mark, Erica Merrill and Jenny Kaufman, and she is grateful to practice yoga with the wonderful community at Yogaview. Jyl continues to dance, perform and choreograph in Chicago and is also the curator and hostess of Poonie's Cabaret at Links Hall. She is currently an Adjunct Faculty member at the Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago, where she also teaches yoga.
